LG UP78006 recommended TV 2021

The LG UP7800 is a low-mid-range 4K 2021 TV. This TV has a 50Hz IPS panel with 4K resolution. The full name is the LG UP78006LB and it is only sold in some exclusive stores. The LG UP78006 is the same television as the UP77006 but with another design of the base that has a central half-moon instead of the two legs. This TV is suitable for large rooms, for those who want to spend little for a modern TV, with a good Smart platform and a good viewing angle. We recommend you review our full opinion of the LG UP7700 since they are the same TV. We recommend you buy this TV in 2021 for about £500 in 55 inches.

LG OLED A1: Cheapest OLED TV 2021?

The LG OLED A1 is a 2021 high-end TV. This TV is the cheapest of the 2021 OLED TVs. As a good OLED TV it offers spectacular blacks, deep blacks even with the lights off as well as the best viewing angle. But there is life beyond the OLED panel and the LG A1 is where it "limps": the native frequency of the panel is 50Hz and that in fast moving images you can notice it also does not include any HDMI2.1 port, it is not prepared for the new consoles of the future. Other aspects to take into account are the maximum brightness, which is behind Samsung's QLEDs. The Smart platform is fine but it is the one from last year: webOS 5.0 not the new one that is mounted on 2021 TVs.

  • Best: OLED, blacks, viewing angle, price
  • Worst: 50Hz, maximum brightness

Design LG A1:

Alternative to LG A1?

Do not forget to check out out "TV Buying Guide"
  • Sony A80J: Sony's OLED 2021, competes directly with the C1/A1 but somewhat more expensive.
  • Samsung QN90A: brighter, better for rooms with direct light sources and for HDR. More expensive.
  • LG C1: The older brother OLED of LG 2021, it costs about £300-400 more but it is a better and more complete TV.

Our opinion LG A1 (veredict):

Our opinion on the LG A1 is not entirely good although it is a very good TV. We can speak highly of any OLED TV, but in this case they have saved to make it a cheaper TV and launch it even in 48 inches. The saving of the 50Hz panel and not including HDMI2.1 seems to us that it is too much to spend more than £1200 on a 55-inch TV. If you really want an excellent TV to watch movies in the dark or sports with the whole family, this is an excellent TV, it gives you everything you are looking for. If you are more fussy and you are going to play with the TV or watch high quality HDR content, it may be that spending the cost of the OLED LG C1 you will feel better with your new TV.

Samsung AU9000. Is It a good tv?

The Samsung AU9005 is a mid-range 2021 4K TV. This is the best non-QLED model of the brand for this year. CrystalColor color technology has good color reproduction. The VA panel has a native frequency of 50Hz, typical of the low range, but the VA panel obtains good contrast, good for watching movies in the dark but loses color intensity when placed on the side of the screen. The Slim design with less than 3cm thick is possible thanks to the EdgeLED panel which is not the best panel, but allows an UltraSlim design. The Smart platform is one of the best as every year, it includes all the necessary applications and it works really well. Audio is not the best as in all mid-range LED TVs. As an extra in the mid-range it includes the Motion Xcelerator Turbo: The game processor optimizes the sharpness of moving images allowing you to play fluently at 120Hz. The Samsung AU9075 is the same TV as the AU9005, we have not found any difference, it seems that it is a model sold exclusively by stores.

  • Pros: SmartTV, CrystalColor, Design
  • Cons: EdgeLED, Price, EdgeLED

Alternative to Samsung AU9000?

  • Samsung AU8000: very similar but without Motion Xcelerator Turbo for gamers. Something cheaper.
  • LG UP8000: the equivalent in price but with an IPS panel.

Our opinion Samsung AU9000 (veredict):

Our opinion on the Samsung AU9005 isn't entirely good unless you're really looking for a mid-range TV to play games with. It is not a bad TV to watch TV or movies and the Smart platform is the best but the Samsung AU8005 is almost identical and is cheaper. The best we can say about this TV is that the design is high-end, the image is correct and the Smart is good good. If you are looking for a TV to view from the sides, a TV with an IPS panel is better, which have less contrast, less black blacks but instead have a better viewing angle.

          Sony X80J: our review (X81J)

The Sony X81JAEP is a low-end 2021 model. The resolution is 4K as in "all" the TVs of this year. The panel is IPS (ADS) that offers wide viewing angles at the cost of losing depth of blacks, if you turn off the lights the blacks look gray. The panel is DirectLED with native 50Hz and although it is compatible with "all" HDR formats the panel is 8bits. The processor is not the best of Sony, but it works really well: 4K HDR Processor X1. The GoogleTV is good, it is already at the height of the Smart platforms of Samsung or LG, but it is not our favorite. They do not have HDMI 2.1, available from the X85J, the top model. The Sony X82J is almost identical, the main difference is aesthetics, with another type of base. Also I have 400Hz of MotionFlow instead of 200Hz.

          • The best: viewing angle
          • The worst: contrast, price

          Design Sony X80JU:

          Alternative to Sony X80J?

Do not forget to check out out "TV Buying Guide"
          • Sony X85J: 2021, one of the ones we value the best in the mid-range. A step above the X80J.
          • Samsung AU8000: A good TV, the direct competition of this 2021 model with VA panel, better contrast and worse viewing angle.

          Our opinion Sony X80J (veredict):

Our opinion on the Sony X81J is not very good, it is a low-end TV but Sony is usually a relatively expensive brand. This TV mounts an IPS DirectLED panel with native 50Hz, low-end specifications although it does not mean that it is a bad TV, it is what it is and our most outstanding drawback is the price since paying for "the quality" that Sony offers us in the low-end does not seem like the best option. It is a TV suitable for large living rooms or for those with sofas on the sides due to its good viewing angle, on the contrary it is not the most suitable TV for watching movies. If you are looking for a TV with these characteristics, we prefer to look at some "economic" LG that offers us the same benefits at a lower price: for example the LG UP80006.

                  Comparative OLED LG 2021 G1 C1 A1 B1 Which one to buy?

Our comparison of all LG OLED TVs this 2021. These TVs are high-end and they all look great. The resolution is 4K and they include one of the best Smart platforms of the moment. LG is the queen of OLEDs and they offer the best viewing angle and also the deepest blacks, ideal for watching movies with the lights off. televisions that work great for all kinds of uses. The price is quite high, between £1,300 and £2,000 in 55 inches.

                  Difference LG G1 vs C1 vs B1 vs A1

The LG OLED G1 is LG's best TV 2021 and probably the best TV of the year. It has everything you need such as the new HDMI 2.1 ports to be able to play 4K / 120Hz. The EVO panel that it mounts allows it to reach a higher maximum brightness than the rest of the OLEDs. The processor is the best from LG: Alpha 9 image processor. Audio is 60W 4.2. Available from 55 inches.

The LG OLED C1 is the evolution of the best-seller CX of 2020, not gutter with the EVO panel. nor does it have a design as ultra-thin as the G1 but it maintains the HDMI2.1 ports and the Alpha 9 Image Processor. The Audio is 40W 2.2. The C1 is sold from 48 inches.

The LG OLED B1 is one notch below the C1. The main difference is that it does not incorporate the Alpha 9 processor, it comes with a somewhat inferior processor: Alpha 7. Another notable difference is that only 2 of the four HDMI ports with 2.1. It is available from 55 inches.

The LG OLED A1 is the cheapest of the OLEDs of this 2021 from LG, the panel is inferior with native 50Hz instead of 100Hz and has one less HDMI and none is HDMI 2.1, so it is not so good for gamers, the Smart is from last year. Audio is 20W 2.0. It is available from 48 inches.

                  * The LG OLED CX is from last year (2020) but it is still on sale and is very similar to the OLED C1, with a previous Smart version the differences in image quality are few, very few and can be found on sale.

                  Reference price 55 inches:

                  • LG A1 £1200
                  • LG B1 £1300
                  • LG C1 £1500
                  • LG G1 £1700

                  Conclusion:

For us the LG OLED C1 is the most balanced, if you do not have budget problems the G1 is superior for the panel it mounts, but of course you have to pay for it. On the A1 and B1 they do not convince us and we prefer to buy the OLED of the 2020 CX that will be at a similar price and is higher. In conclusion, the LG OLED C1 is for us the best option to buy a high-end TV in 2021, but we would expect to find an offer for about £1500.
