Sony X8505B 4K: review of a cheap UHD

The Sony X8505B is a UHD (4K) model 2014. This television offers the 4K resolution at a really low price. It is the "low" range of Sony 4K TV 2014, which will reduce costs in other ways, and maintain the UltraHD resolution. This TV is not as good as the Sony X9005B, the image quality is lower in contrast and in Hz, with MotionFlow 200Hz. The Sony X8505B can cause some problems clouding with very dark scenes, but with bright images it offers an excelent images. The 3D is passive and it is worse than the other brands like Samsung or Panasonic, just like the SmartTV system that it is functional with the included Opera browser, but also worse than other systems. The audio is good but not great, the 20W of power is enough to watch television, but not to see movies with good sound quality. Connectivity is good, with HDMI, USB, Wi-Fi, MHL compatibility ...

Conclusion (verdict):

Our opinion about the Sony X8505B is not good. The best we can say about this TV is that Sony 4K is reasonably priced. Although light images have incredible quality, dark picture screen does not offer a good uniformity, Edge LED technology can produce clouding effects, but with a good configuration can mitigate this problem. The sound and SmartTV are good, but worse than other models comparably priced. Our recommendation is not to buy this TV but we can change our opinion if you want a 4K TV and you haven't the budget to buy an excellent model as Sony X9005B. We advise you to review other "cheap" 4K models like Samsung HU7500 or Philips PUS7809.
