Samsung AU9000. Is It a good tv?

The Samsung AU9005 is a mid-range 2021 4K TV. This is the best non-QLED model of the brand for this year. CrystalColor color technology has good color reproduction. The VA panel has a native frequency of 50Hz, typical of the low range, but the VA panel obtains good contrast, good for watching movies in the dark but loses color intensity when placed on the side of the screen. The Slim design with less than 3cm thick is possible thanks to the EdgeLED panel which is not the best panel, but allows an UltraSlim design. The Smart platform is one of the best as every year, it includes all the necessary applications and it works really well. Audio is not the best as in all mid-range LED TVs. As an extra in the mid-range it includes the Motion Xcelerator Turbo: The game processor optimizes the sharpness of moving images allowing you to play fluently at 120Hz. The Samsung AU9075 is the same TV as the AU9005, we have not found any difference, it seems that it is a model sold exclusively by stores.

Our opinion Samsung AU9000 (veredict):

Our opinion on the Samsung AU9005 isn't entirely good unless you're really looking for a mid-range TV to play games with. It is not a bad TV to watch TV or movies and the Smart platform is the best but the Samsung AU8005 is almost identical and is cheaper. The best we can say about this TV is that the design is high-end, the image is correct and the Smart is good good. If you are looking for a TV to view from the sides, a TV with an IPS panel is better, which have less contrast, less black blacks but instead have a better viewing angle.

Sony X80J: our review (X81J)

The Sony X81JAEP is a low-end 2021 model. The resolution is 4K as in "all" the TVs of this year. The panel is IPS (ADS) that offers wide viewing angles at the cost of losing depth of blacks, if you turn off the lights the blacks look gray. The panel is DirectLED with native 50Hz and although it is compatible with "all" HDR formats the panel is 8bits. The processor is not the best of Sony, but it works really well: 4K HDR Processor X1. The GoogleTV is good, it is already at the height of the Smart platforms of Samsung or LG, but it is not our favorite. They do not have HDMI 2.1, available from the X85J, the top model. The Sony X82J is almost identical, the main difference is aesthetics, with another type of base. Also I have 400Hz of MotionFlow instead of 200Hz.

Our opinion Sony X80J (veredict):

Our opinion on the Sony X81J is not very good, it is a low-end TV but Sony is usually a relatively expensive brand. This TV mounts an IPS DirectLED panel with native 50Hz, low-end specifications although it does not mean that it is a bad TV, it is what it is and our most outstanding drawback is the price since paying for "the quality" that Sony offers us in the low-end does not seem like the best option. It is a TV suitable for large living rooms or for those with sofas on the sides due to its good viewing angle, on the contrary it is not the most suitable TV for watching movies. If you are looking for a TV with these characteristics, we prefer to look at some "economic" LG that offers us the same benefits at a lower price: for example the LG UP80006.

LG UP75006: Cheapest 4K 2021

The LG UP7500 TV [UP75006] is of the "mid-low" range. It's one of LG's cheapest TVs for 2021, the resolution is 4K, and the SmartTV platform is good. The Panel IPs allow good viewing angles but the contrast is somewhat poor if you are a home theater lover. It is a TV more than enough for most homes and its price is low, just over £500 in 55 inches, a very affordable price. The LG UP7700 [UP7690 (white) / UP7500 (without Magic Control]) is a "low" end TV but it maintains 4K resolution and one of the best SmartTV platform: webOS 6.0. Our opinion about the LG UP7700 is correct without more, although the most remarkable thing is its good Smart platform is a TV that is good for watching TV, correct for watching sports and not very good if you are a movie lover, especially if you are looking for sound and you watch movies in the dark. We can say that this is a TV for the whole family, a varied use but without being too demanding. Samsung TU8500: best low-price TV to buy 2020

The Samsung TU8500 is a mid-range 2020 model at an affordable price. The resolution is what is currently recommended 4K and has HDR compatibility, although it can not reproduce the best content at its best. The Smart platform is the same as in all Samsung 2020 TVs. The TU8500 is a good TV, better to see from the front than from the sides, with 20W of sound power and correct connections, everything you need for a mid-range TV. Our opinion of the Samsung TU8500 is quite good. This is the cheap mid-range television that we would buy ourselves to enjoy movies, watch TV or use Netflix. A TV without many frills but more than enough for all types of average users. It is fine to play but tb for cinema or to watch the TDT. The main drawback that we highlight is the angle of vision, we do not recommend it for large rooms where the sofas are on the sides since it immediately loses image quality. Otherwise, everything is correct, not excellent, but it is correct.

Samsung Q60T: The cheapest QLED of 2020 (Q65T)

The Samsung Q60T (Q65T) is the cheapest QLED of 2020. The resolution is 4K and HDR compatible like "all" the 2020 TVs. The processor is lower than other QLEDs and the 50Hz panel with EdgeLED technology of 8Bits that have the cheapest televisions. On the SmartTV and the connections well, it is a good platform and has good connections. The QLED Q60T is the evolution of the 2019 Q64R, a model available in a multitude of screen sizes, from 43 to 85 inches. Our opinion about the Samsung Q60TA is not good, we believe that it is not necessary to buy a QLED if it is going to have an EdgeLED panel, 50Hz panel etc. For those same characteristics we recommend you buy a cheaper LED TV with the main technical specifications, in terms of image, such as the Samsung TU8505. Samsung TU7100: Cheapest 4K 2020 (TU7000)

The Samsung TU7100 is Samsung's cheapest 4K TV of 2020, therefore the first we recommend. The technology of the Crystal Display panel is somewhat better than the previous year, and the Crystal Processor 4K processor improves HDR content a bit, but with a maximum brightness of 250nits it cannot offer the full potential of the best HDR + content. The 50Hz VA panel allows for good contrast and acceptable blacks, PurColor color technology is Samsung's basic. The remote control is the conventional one without voice control but the Smart is the same as for all other 2020 televisions, it works well and is compatible with the main video platforms. Our opinion on the Samsung TU7100 is good, it is good if you want to pay little. This is the TV that we recommend you buy if you want to pay the minimum to get a 4K TV, a good platform to use Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO ... to watch TV and little else. The image quality is correct, if you are not very Freak the image quality is enough (you must ask yourself how many times you have calibrated your old TV). Anyway, we recommend you stretch the budget a bit and look for the Samsung TU8000 first before deciding on the TU7100.

Sony XH8096 our buying advice (XH8077)

The Sony XH8096 is a good TV 2020. Like "all" current TVs includes SmartTV and 4K resolution. It is a not very cheap mid-range model, Sony is a brand a little more expensive than LG or Samsung. The panel is good, the Triluminos technology, but it is EdgeLED and with 50Hz refresh rate in 43 and 49 inches, the XH8505 model improves this data. The connections are good, the Smart works correctly and the Audio is 20W, as in almost all current LED TVs. The IPS panel improves the viewing angle but in contrast is somewhat worse than other panels, making it not the best TV for movies in the dark.

Our opinion about the Sony XH8096 is not entirely good, it is a lower-middle-range television, although it is sufficient for most normal television users, its price is somewhat higher than other similar quality / performance models from other good brands like LG. If you are looking for a TV to watch TV it is fine, but if you want a maximum angle of view and brightness in this category it is fine, but we do not recommend it for dark rooms since blacks look gray. The LG mid-range is similar and somewhat cheaper, on the other hand if you prefer to improve in contrast but lose angle of view we recommend you look at the Samsung TU8 series.

The Samsung TU8000 is a mid-range 2020 television. It is a TV with 4K resolution and low price. Today "all televisions" have HDR compatibility and good resolution, in addition to including a good Smart platform. Our opinion Samsung TU8000  (veredict):

Our opinion of the Samsung TU8000 is good. The mid-range of Samsung 2020 televisions for those who do not want to overspend. The Samsung TU8000 models are televisions with 4K resolution and HDR support, although the range of colors it can reproduce is fair. They are not the best televisions but they are very good in image quality for average users, that is, for those who are not too freaks of the image quality and especially to see from the front, since from the sides a lot of image quality is lost. The Smart as in all TVs is fine. In summary the quality / price is correct and we recommend getting a TU85 since the color reproduction is slightly better than in the TU8000 and the minimum difference, sometimes at the same price.

Sony XG8396: medium range too expensive

The Sony XG8396 is a mid-range model 2019-2020, it is the same TV as the XG8596 with the difference in size, this XG83 is only available in 43 and 49 inches, just like its big brother is compatible with 4K and HDR10. The panel is IPS so it is best to see in brightly lit rooms that look good both from the front and from the sides. The Smart is Oreo8 which is pretty good. Sony has prices for its mid-low range TVs too high in our opinion and although this has a good color with its panel Triluminos and native 100Hz is too expensive. We advise you to visit our full review of the Sony XG85096 which is the same as we have for this model.

The Sony XG8096 is a mid-low-end 2019 TV, one of the cheapest TVs with 4K-HDDR10 and SmartTV resolution that Sony offers for this year. In image quality it offers the typical colors of Sony, with its Triluminos screen. The technology is IPS so it is best to see in rooms with ambient light and offers a good viewing angle. The panel is 50Hz and EdgeLED is 49 and 43 inches and DirectLED is 55 and higher. DirectLED panels offer better panel uniformity. The Smart platform is fine, it is the same as the higher models. It has no dual tuner and the audio is somewhat inferior to the XG85 modleo since it does not include DolbyAtmos.

Our opinion of the Sony XG8096 is not good for the 43 and 49-inch models as the EdgeLEd panel and the 50Hz are features of low-end televisions. In addition the price of Sony TVs in this category are not so cheap with those of other brands such as LG that offer more for the same price. The main difference with the top models of the series 8 like the XG8596 is the 100Hz of the panel. Anyway it is a TV recommended for those who do not want to pay too much, have a TV compatible with the most common formats currently, enjoy a good Smart and who like the type of image offered by Sony TVs thanks to its Triluminos screen. Not recommended to watch movies in the dark.
