What are QLED OLED NanoCell MiniLEDs?

advertising

The vast majority of televisions are LCD-LED, although advertising and in general we all call them LED televisions. Actually right now there are only LCD-LED televisions or OLED televisions, the rest are small inventions of the brands. This is a very prominent feature when we are going to buy a new TV, but we should not break our heads: if our budget reaches a perfect OLED, if it does not arrive an LCD-LED. To know more important aspects to choose a TV, visit our guide to buy TV.

What is an LCD-LED TV?

It is a television that uses a few "bulbs" to illuminate the screen, depending on how they are distributed or how they are grouped, we have different types of panel: DirectLED, EdgeLED or FALD

What is a QLED TV?

The QLEDs are the exclusive televisions (the high-end) of Samsung, they are a variant of the LCD-LED, these Samsung models use small particles (quantum dots) to improve the brightness and color of the image. Samsung usually uses VA panels so improving brightness and color is a good idea for its high-end. In general, whether a TV is QLED or not does not mean much since we can find recommended QLED televisions and others that are not so much.

What is a TV NanoCell?

The NanoCells are what LG calls its high-end televisions, but they are actually LCD-LED televisions. NanoCells have particles responsible for not absorbing light that is not useful to achieve greater precision of color and contrast levels. This is useful since LG tends to mount IPS panels, which is where they are looser in contrast.

What is an OLED TV?

An OLED TV turns on a light bulb for each pixel, that is to say that each dot can be turned on or paid independently so it offers us the highest level of blacks and contrast. This is achieved with organic diodes and here one of its main problems, durability and possible screen burn-in problems. One of the aspects where it is inferior to the LCD-LED is in the maximum brightness, for everything else we can say that they are the best televisions of the moment.

Other options

As is to be expected, brands continue to investigate and launch new features, some with success and others not so much, currently we can find the MiniLED: the same as the LCD-LED but with much smaller "bulbs", so they illuminate fewer pixels and it is controlled better TV contrast.

Conclusion

In general, both QLED and Nanocell technology serve to touch up the defects that LG and Samsung have in their low-mid-range televisions, each with its own problems. OLED televisions are another world, a higher category, although it is still insisted that they have burning problems or poor durability today, they are for us the best TVs that can be bought.
