Sony XF8505: SmartTV 2018 review

The Sony XF8505 is a mid-range LCD-LED TV for sale in 2018-2019. In terms of image quality, which should be the most important, we note that it has an IPS panel, which offers great viewing angles but little contrast, and the X1 processor, the second most powerful Sony that offers a very good performance. Fast moving images like sports or action movies look really good, with excellent sharpness thanks to MotionFlow. To watch movies in the dark you have to activate the LocalDimming that improves the lack of contrast of the IPS panel. The Smart platform is AndroidTV, which is fine but is not very fluid and stable. Audio is correct to watch movies but not enough to listen to music on TV.

The Worst: Dark movies, Smart AndroidTV

Our opinion Sony X85005 (veredict):

Our opinion about the Sony XF8505 is good if you are looking for a good TV with IPS panel. This means that you can enjoy very real bright images, sports etc. but it is not the best TV to watch movies in the dark. As with all TVs with an IPS panel, it has good viewing angles. The Smart platform is correct and compatible with NetFlix but not with HBO. The Sony XF8505 is the second step of LCD-LED this year 2018 and its price not far from the XF9005 that has VA panel, so you can choose one or another according to your needs. For gamers this TV has an inputlag of in game mode of 28ms (homecinemamagazine.nl), which is low.
