Should you buy an 8K TV in 2020?

advertising
8K televisions have 4 times more pixels than 4K TVs, which we recommend today. The 8K resolution is equivalent to 7,680 × 4,320, about 33 million pixels, a value that we are not able to perceive.

What 8K TV can you buy?
The truth is that the main brands already offer a model with this new resolution. Below we list the models available in Spanish stores, only for sizes of 65 inches or larger.

2020:
  • Samsung Q950T
  • Samsung Q900T
  • Samsung Q800T
  • LG NANO996
  • LG NANO956
  • Sony zh8
2019:
  • Samsung Q950R
  • Samsung Q900R
  • LG SM9900
  • LG Z9
Price:
They are very very expensive televisions, to get an idea a 65-inch 8K TV costs about ‎£3,000 while "the same" 4K TV costs about £1,800

8K content?
There isn't content beyond the demo videos, it looks like the upcoming Japan Olympics (whenever they happen) will be viewable in 8K but only in Japan. It will surely be followed by Formula 1, later a movie or PS5 game. As always, but we know it will be a slow process.

You can still watch lower resolution content and the TV re-scales it to play it in the best possible way, but that doesn't mean it looks better than a 4K TV

Should you buy an 8K TV in 2020?
Does it make sense to buy a Porch that runs at 200Km / h if it can only drive you at 120Km / h ?, this is something similar. If you have the money and you like having the latest of the latest or you just don't care about the price of your new TV, you can buy it, but for average users we really don't recommend it.
